Who can attend Ad Prima Charter School?

All students residing in Philadelphia are eligible to enter the lottery for Ad Prima Charter School.

Students do not have to take an entrance exam to attend.


Where is Ad Prima Charter School located?

Ad Prima Charter School has two campuses.  One campus is located in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia at 8034 Thouron Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19150.  The other campus is in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia at 1922 N. 63rd Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19151.


What grade levels does Ad Prima Charter School serve?

Ad Prima Charter School serves students in Kindergarten through eighth grade.


How old does my child need to be to enroll into Kindergarten?

Students are required to be five years of age before or on September 1, 2024 in order to enroll.

 

When is the application available for the 2024-2025 School Year?

For the 2024-2025 school year, the application will be available on November 1, 2023 via the school’s website: www.adprimacharterschools.org. The application will close on January 31, 2024.
 

Does Ad Prima Charter School give sibling preference for admission?

Yes, Ad Prima Charter School gives preference to students with siblings currently attending Ad Prima Charter School. 


When will the lottery be held?

The lottery for both campuses was held via Zoom on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.


When will I find out if my child has been accepted to Ad Prima School?

After the lottery, all applicants will receive an email letting them know if they were selected in the lottery or placed on the wait-list. The families of all applicants are notified via SchoolMint through email or text.


What happens after the lottery?

If your child was not selected, you can view their current position on the wait-list by logging into your SchoolMint.com account. If your applicant was selected, you will receive an email to complete your applicant’s enrollment packet. 

 

What time does school start and end each day?

School doors open at 7:30 a.m. Classes begin at 8:00 a.m., and students are marked tardy if they are not in their classrooms at 8:00 a.m. Dismissal is at 4:00 p.m. Please make every effort to have your child arrive before 8:00 a.m. and picked up at 4:00 p.m.


Does Ad Prima Charter School offer a foreign language?

Yes, while all subjects and instruction are taught in English, students in every grade have Spanish lessons.  English as a Second Language services are available as well.


How many students are in each class?

The average classroom size ranges from 21-24 students.


Will I be able to tour the campuses?

Yes, virtual tours are available upon request.

 

Are students required to wear a uniform?

Yes, students are required to adhere to a dress code. Click here for the uniform policy: Policies – Parents – Ad Prima Charter School (adprimacharterschools.org). Parents are required to purchase uniforms from Flynn and O’Hara uniform store, www.flynnohara.com.

 

Is school bus transportation available?

School bus transportation is available for eligible students in Grades 1 - 6. SEPTA Fare Cards are available for eligible students in Grades 7 and 8. Students who are eligible for the school bus and SEPTA fare cards are required to live 1.5 miles or more away from the campus where the student is enrolled.

 

Does Ad Prima Charter School offer free meals?

All students receive free breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is served starting at 7:30 a.m. Lunch is served during designated lunch periods. All meals are provided by Nutritional Development Services.

 

Does Ad Prima Charter have before/after school care?

No, school hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

 

Does Ad Prima offer extracurricular or enrichment activities?

Yes, Ad Prima Charter School offers a wide variety of extracurricular and enrichment activities. However, activities may vary by campus.  Ad Prima currently offers After School Tutoring, Legacy Tennis, Tech Girlz, and Robotics Club.  Ad Prima’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society meets once a month after school.

 

Does Ad Prima offer Summer programs?

Yes, Ad Prima offers summer programs that include Extended School Year(ESY), Summer

Enrichment, STEM, and tutoring.

School Enrollment Lottery

The Ad Prima Charter School Enrollment Lottery for School Year 2024-2025 will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 5:00 PM via Zoom conference. The enrollment lottery will be conducted through SchoolMint which is our admissions portal. The Zoom link will be emailed through the SchoolMint portal. 
 
Results will be sent via SchoolMint based upon your notification preferences immediately following the lottery. If your child was selected during the lottery, you will have to accept the admissions offer by Friday, March 22, 2024. Please login into the SchoolMint portal to accept the offer. 
 
Enrollment packets will be provided via SchoolMint beginning on March 27, 2024. The deadline to complete the packet is April 15, 2024. 
 

Sibling Preference

Ad Prima Charter School gives admissions preference to new students with a sibling currently enrolled in the school. Siblings must live in the same household and have the same legal parent or guardian. An application is still required and must be submitted before the deadline to be included in the lottery with preference. Families must select the sibling checkbox via SchoolMint to qualify for sibling preference. 

Wait-List

Names not selected in lottery will be placed on a numbered wait-list for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. The wait-list expires on June 30, 2025.
